The Government has sanctioned Rs 1,14,85,000 for renovation of the famous Maa Budhi Thakurnai Temple in the city and the work would begin soon.
It was revealed at the district-level Development Council meeting held here on Friday.
The meeting presided over by Ganjam district Collector Vijaya Amruta Kulange resolved to send proposals to the Government for development of all 22 tourism sites in the district.
Attending the meeting Brahmapur MLA Bikram Panda wanted to know the reason behind the delay in undertaking renovation work of the Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple when the Government has already provided funds for the purpose.
To this, the OTDC Assistant Executive Engineer Santanu Kumar Pradhan said the work was delayed due to a dispute between two groups of priests of the temple. Now, the dispute has been shorted out and permission has been sought from the department to begin the work.
Discussions were also held on the proposals of watch towers at the Maa Tara Tarini Temple and the Potagada on the Rushikulya river.
Among others, Tourism Department Assistant Director Sanatan Nayak and Rural Department Executive Engineer Pradeep Kumar Jena were present.
