Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member Rama Chandra Khuntia dubbed the Union Budget as wishing long life to people at deathbeds and termed it as politically-motivated. Khuntia said that while the NDA Government has failed to fulfil the promises to the farmers and people made in last five years, providing assurances to the people of the country just two months before the general elections is ridiculous.
He said that on the other hand, if the promise given by AICC president Rahul Gandhi of minimum income guarantee is executed, there would be no need of different promises.
The provisions presented in the Union Budget are hollow compared to the Rahul Gandhi’s promise of minimum income guarantee, he added.
