Buddhist meet delegates visit Jajpur sites

Around 120 delegates of the International Buddhist Conference on Saturday visited the famous Buddhist sites in lalitagiri, Ratnagiri and Udayagiri here. “We are delighted to visit these places. The State Government should build proper roads for the tourists to visit these sites,” said Buddhist Monuments Development Council chairman Dr Arvind Alok.

Many delegates expressed their displeasure in Udayagiri as some officials of ASI refused to open the main gate for the entry of their vehicles. The State Government constructed a museum, guest houses and other developmental works in lalitagiri, Ratnagiri and langudi. But the authorities neglected Udayagiri though Udayagiri is more important than lalitagiri and Ratnagiri, said Udayagri Surakhaya Samti president Maheswar Bal.
