The Buddhist Society of India State unit on Wednesday strongly condemned the recent bomb blast in the sacred Mahabodhi temple at Bodh Gaya and Bodhidrum.

“Our culture and traditions teach us respect for all religions, and such attack on a religious place is condemnable. The increasing incidents of attack on religious and spiritual institutes across the country are a matter of great concern and need to be checked,” said Society State unit general secretary laxman Mallick at a Press conference here.

The Society expressed its deep condolences to the deceased Uttarkhand pilgrims and urged people to be extra cautious before pilgrimage. Mallick too urged the Central and State Governments to take adequate security measures at religious places to avoid any untoward incidents in future.

Among others, former Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University of Culture Dr Bimalendu Mohanty, Buddhist Society president Harish Mahapatra, Samajik Naya Andolan State unit president Ashok Kumar Das and Mula Nibasi Samata Party convenor Abhiram Mallick were present.
