Girl students of the Berhampur University (BU) had a narrow escape when a huge portion of the hostel building of the university collapsed on Thursday.
A major tragedy was averted as most of the students had gone to attend classes at the university when the hostel building caved in at around 12 noon.
According to reports, a total of 104 students are currently lodged at the hostel building that has 40 rooms. Nine rooms were reportedly damaged in the mishap on the day.
Soon after the incident, the authorities of this hostel shifted the students to the Chilika hostel.
