A Professor of the PG Department of Odia in the Berhampur University (BU) was brutally attacked by miscreants in the campus on Wednesday.
While the reason for such attack on Prof Sadananda Nayak was not known, two students belonging to the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication were questioned and later detained in the Gopalpur police station for interrogation.
When asked, former BU Vice-Chancellor Prof JK Mohapatra said that during his long stint in the university, he had come across such a brutal attack during 1984-85 and the student concerned was rusticated. So, this is the second such incident.
Police denied the identification of the student detained.
