Villagers under the banner of the Remuna land losers’ Krushak Manch on Tuesday staged a demonstration in front of the district Collectorate here protesting the Government’s offered compensation for their land. The agitators said that although they had agreed to part with their land for creation of a land bank, the concerned department is not giving them the approved rate of compensation effective from January 1, 2014. While the benchmark rate is Rs40,000 per decimal, they are offered Rs1,200-Rs1,500 as per the old rate.
They demanded compensation as per the new guidelines. They said that although they had agreed to spare their lands for industrial purpose in 2011 after a notification, their purpose is being served. About 100 acres of land under nine mouzas would be acquired for the purpose of a land bank at Remuna, they said.
