The district education officer (DEO) here placed three teachers under suspension, withheld salary of 17 more teachers and served show cause to 42 others for dereliction of duty.
On the first day of opening of school after summer vacation, DEO Hrushikesh Kandi had asked the BEOs, ABEOs and CRCCs to make surprise visits to the schools and as per their report, took the action.
The teachers who were suspended included Ramchandra Murmu of Budhiamari Primary School, Sadar, Jamuna Singh of Muruda Primary School and Basudev Padhi of DS Public School, Maitapur, said sources.
