About 700 Postal employees of Baleswar under the banner of All India Gramin Dak Seva have resorted to cease work from Tuesday in order to press for their 6-point charter of demands.
The association alleged that the Government has been showing apathy to the genuine demands of the postal employees since a long time. Their demands include according Central Government employee status to the postal staff, application of the next pay commission, postmaster appointment from cadre as per eligibility criteria, merger of 50 per cent DA with the basic pay and regularization of services of the casual employees, among others.
