B'swar MP, MlAs visit project works on border

Published on:

local MP RK Jena along with MlAs of north Baleswar, Anant Das, Aswini Patra and Nityananda Sahu on Monday visited Talseri and Udaipur beach areas to take stock of a road construction work, which was stopped by West Bengal administration on the plea that the area comes under West Bengal.

Baleswar Sub-Collector Ramchandra Palta, Bhograi Tehsildar and Executive Engineers of Works and RD Departments too accompanied them.

A week ago, an MP of West Bengal and others had stopped the road.

However, the construction work resumed later in presence of Odisha police.

There have been allegations that developmental works in the border areas undertaken by the Odisha Government have been hindered by the West Bengal, which claims those areas as theirs’.

The team led by Jena inspected various ongoing developmental works, including road construction, stone patching and beach development in the border area.

“The objective of our visit was to ensure that the developmental works going on in Talseri and Udaipur continue unhindered. The State Government has already sanctioned Rs 8 crore, including Rs 3 crore each for Talseri and Chandipur and Rs 2 crore for Dagra beach. Similarly Rs 21 crore has been sanctioned for stone patching along the beach between Talseri and Udaipur. These works are going on in our area,” said Jena.
