A review meeting pertaining to the progress of work for a Government medical college and hospital here was held under the chairmanship of district Collector Pramod Das.

Dean of the college Pratap Chandra Rath, Additional Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Surajit Das, DMET representative Prakash Chandra Mohapatra , Chief Engineer (Works)  Satyaranjan Sethi, the CDMO Vivekananda Das and Executive Engineer (R and B) Achyutananda Das were present.

It was decided that the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) which would be facilitating the medical college would be given a facelift, besides relocation of several key departments and construction of new buildings. The relocation for the departments would be completed by end of July, while other works would be completed by September, said Collector Das.

“The DHH would be brought to the standard of MCI requirement. For this reason while some of the vital departments which have more inflow of patients would be relocated, the gynaecology, paediatric and SCU wards would be shifted to the newly constructed MCH unit. Since these departments are demanding more space, they would be relocated. Similarly, to cater to the requirements of some other departments, new constructions and modifications would be affected,” said Das.
