B'swar incidence: GRP ASI axed

Published on:

The Government Railway Police (GRP) SP on Saturday suspended GRP ASI Pratap Rudra Mishra in connection with the incidence of two workers breaking the dead body of an old woman into pieces and carrying it in a sack tied to a bamboo pole. Notably, the 80-year-old widow Salamani Behera had been run over by a goods train near the Soro railway station in the district on August 24. Her body was taken to the Soro CHC. The GRP reached the CHC after 12 hours. They could not arrange an ambulance to take the body to the Baleswar DHH for postmortem. As the body turned hard due to delay, workers broke the body at the hip, wrapped it up in an old sheet, tied it to a bamboo pole and carried it.
