B'swar DM: PEOs' strike not to hit panchayat polls

Published on:

District Collector Pramod Das claimed that the district administration has made adequate arrangement for smooth conduct of the ensuing panchayat elections despite the strike by the panchayat executive officers (PEOs).

“Alternative arrangement will be made for smooth conduct of the polls in case the executive officers continue their cease work and do notcooperate with the polling process,” said Das.

It may be noted that EOs are on dharna over the last 24 days in order to press their four-point charter of demands. They alleged that their genuine and long standing demands fell in the deaf ears of the Government.

The demands include pension at least for family, promotion, increment in salary and enhancement of entry level qualification to graduation.

“We are doing a lot of responsible works now-a–days like the MGNREGA online payment, pension, ration card and holding Palli Sabhas in adverse situation. However, each time our association presses our demand, we get mere assurances only, which tend to prove hollow subsequently,” lamented the agitators.
