B'swar DHH: Now, Seva He Seva distributes free meal

Published on:

As Aahar scheme has stopped in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on Sunday, a civil society body,  Seva He Seva, which distributes  food in the bus stand only on Sunday, came to fill the gap by providing food  to the patients and their attendants.

The food distribution was inaugurated  by district Collector Pramod Das. CDMO Bibekananda Das ,ADMO SS Chaudhary and other senior officials  of the hospital and district administration were  present.

After collecting rotis from different locations they were distributed among the patients through members of the body.

“We had been distributing food in the bus stand in Baleswar but later on, we came to know that the Aahar is closed on Sunday in the DHH.

Therefore, we decided to provide food there on Sunday. We had appealed to the district administration to accord permission which was obtained. So from now onwards, we would be giving  food in the DHH on Sundays between 12 pm and 2 pm instead of in bus stand,” said president Seva He Seva Amar Singh Walia.

“Before food distribution to streamline, our men distributed coupons among the patients in the morning. Either the patients or their attendants collected food," he said.

The organization urged the residents of Baleswar to donate at least three rotis. Those rotis were collected from five different locations of the town.

“The rotis donated by the families were collected from different collection centres. The curry ( aloo sabji) and pickle were prepared by us. They were ferried and distributed among the poor, needy and distress persons. About  1,000 rotis were collected from different centres  and about 500 roits were prepared by our members. The response, both from the donors and recipients, was very encouraging,” Walia added.

It may noted that since December last year, the ‘Seva He Seva’ has introduced a hearse van to ferry  dead bodies. The hearse vehicle is available to all against nominal charge.
