Disgruntled residents of the town staged a demonstration before the district Collectorate on Saturday to vent their resentment over the dilapidated roads of the town, especially the Proof Road.
They pointed out that the road between the Station Square and Gadagaia which was built about 30 years ago is now full of potholes and craters and has turned totally unsafe due to want of repairs and maintenance. The drains on either side of the road have been choked and wastewater is flowing on the road.
The road, they further pointed out, has on its sides several schools, colleges and other establishments and hundreds of vehicles including those of the Defence establishments ply on it.
The agitators were led by Abhay Das, Bijay Panigrahi, Bijay Panda, Birendra Padhi and Raghunath lenka, who highlighted the poor road conditions of the town and criticised the apathetic attitude of the administration towards safety of denizens.
