The Baleswar Control Dealers’ Association has threatened to gherao the Assembly in Bhubaneswar on December 15 to press for a series of demands.

At a meeting held here on Thursday, association State president Nagendranath Jena alleged that the Government did not evince interest to resolve the problems between consumers and retailers before implementing the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Many eligible beneficiaries have not received ration cards, he said, adding that they should be given ration cards immediately. The other demands include ration card for beneficiaries left beyond the legal preview through dealers, Rs 200 and Rs 150 commission per quintal for rural and urban dealers, respectively, godown rent, electricity bill, labour compensation, etc. Association district president Bidyadhar Dey, Bhagban Panigrahi and Ajay Behera were present, among others.
