B'swar BJD slams marginal hike in paddy MSP

Published on:

The district BJD unit here condemned the Centre’s recent decision to consider a meager hike in paddy MSP.  The leaders termed it as a mockery of the farmers of the State and dubbed the NDA Government as anti- poor and anti-farmers.

The State Government had earlier demanded that the paddy MSP should be Rs2,930 per quintal but the Centre enhanced by a marginal amount from Rs1,470 to Rs1,550.

This wouldn’t suffice any purpose, they observed in a meeting.

District observer MlA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Higher Education Minister and Bhograi MlA Ananta Das, Baleswar MP and incumbent BJD district president RK Jena, all MlAs and former MlAs of the party and elected representatives were also present.

It was decided in the brain storming meeting that the party would aggressively carry out programmes under the ‘Ama Gaon – Ama Bikash’ in booths and wards and spread information about various pro people welfare schemes and measures of the State Government.

The programme would be conducted within next three months from July to September and the observers would monitor the activities.

Further, the members thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for assuring that the medical college and hospital in Baleswar would be operational from the next academic session.

It may be noted , MP RK Jena has been entrusted with the responsibility of party president of the district, which was with Ananta Das, after grand success  of mammoth youth convention ( north Odisha) at Baleswar.
