A woman employee of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) here was arrested by the Saheed Nagar police for allegedly duping job aspirants on the plea of providing jobs to them in the public-sector undertaking.
The arrestee was identified as Jamuna Madhei, who hails from Baleswar district.
A city resident, Mahesh Samal, had lodged a complaint with the Saheed Nagar police alleging that Madhei took Rs16,000 from him on the promise of providing him a job in the BSNL.
However, she neither she provided the job nor returned him his money.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation, during which it was ascertained that Madhei had duped three other job aspirants in a similar manner.
Madhei collected a total of about Rs1 lakh from the four persons, including the latest victim.
Police on Saturday raided her residence at Unit-4 here and arrested her.
