At a time when its subscribers are facing innumerable network problems daily, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam ltd (BSNl) depicts a rosy picture of its improved services by announcing and introducing new schemes like free night and free roaming calls.

After launching free night call scheme (9 pm to 7 am) on May 1, the company on Monday launched free roaming facility, which would allow all its mobile customers across the country to receive incoming calls at no cost. Briefing mediapersons, Chief General Manager, Odisha Telecom Bijoynanda Mishra said, "In fact, it is like a dream of 'One Nation One Number' coming true."

"The new facility will specially benefit the people having transferable jobs and student community who have to change their mobile numbers frequently owing to transfer liability. Mobile users of other operators interested to avail free roaming can port-in to the BSNl through MNP without changing their mobile numbers. They can avail details by contacting 1800-180-1503," said Mishra.

Since the launching of free night call scheme, nearly 320 new BSNl connections have been provided in the Capital city of Bhubaneswar, said Mishra, adding that the company is receiving applications for new connections massively.

When asked about the repeated network problem, the CGM said there are as many as 144 mobile towers in Bhubaneswar. "Efforts are on to streamline the mobile and broadband service. But due to some issues like road digging the service is being hampered temporarily. But the BSNl is committed to providing better service to its customers," he maintained.
