The Baleswar police arrested a senior employee of BSNl and father of two children on the charges of raping a 40-year-old married woman.The accused Gangan Behari Sethi (49) Sub-Divisional Officer stationed at Baleswar of the Telecom Company and also father of two was booked under section 376 and 506 of the IPC.
The victim, a resident of Bhadrak, a mother of two children who has been staying separate along with one child due to martial discord, in her FIR filed at the Sahadevkhunta police station alleged that she had an acquaintance with the accused since last eight years.
“I had come to Baleswar from Bhadrak for medical treatment on Tuesday last week. After consulting doctor in the town she met the accused and apprised him about her ailments. The accused who resides alone gave her a room in his residence to stay and subsequently he went to the market to fetch meals for dinner. After taking dinner he proposed to marry me deserting my husband and I rejected the proposal. Despite my protest he raped me and threatened me of dire consequences if I will disclose the incident,” the victim stated in her FIR.
Sahadevkhunta police station IIC Manoj Rout said the accused was forwarded to court after the medical test conducted on him while the complainant refused to undergo medical test.
