Around 1,500 members of BSNl Casual Karmachari Sangh on Friday held a rally here demanding fulfilment of their 13-point charter of demands at the earliest.
The demands of the agitating workers included a minimum monthly salary of Rs 10,000, ESI and EPF benefits, issue of identity cards and immediate fulfilment of all vacant posts.
The agitators submitted a memorandum to the BSNl Odisha Circle Chief General Manager to take step to meet their demands, failing which they would resort to further agitation.
“We are crying for fulfilment of our legitimate demands. The casual BSNl workers are being paid between Rs 1,000 and Rs 3,000 per month tough the BSNl is a large public sector company. Hence, we appeal to our higher authorities to consider our demands do the needful at the earliest,” said Sangh circle secretary Sahadev Biswal.
Biswal warned that the Sangh would intensify its agitation if the authorities fail to take any positive step to sort out their issues.
