BSF seizes huge cache of explosives in M'giri

On a tipoff about Maoists camping in the Manyamkonda Reserve Forest of Malkangiri district, the BSF’s 112 Battalion personnel on Wednesday launched an operation to nab the Red rebels.

The troops reached the target area at around midnight. However, the Maoists came to know about the movement of approaching troops and fled away.

Sources said that during a search of the Maoist hideout a huge cache of explosives was seized, which included 27 gelatin sticks, 30 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 100 non-electric detonators, 20 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 10 metre of safety fuse and a huge quantity of Maoist literature were seized.

“The seizure of explosive items and live ammunition will have a demoralising effect on Maoists. BSF will intensify and continue its efforts in neutralizing the Maoists in the undivided Koraput district,” said BSF DIG JC Nayak.
