Brokers are holding sway in the railway ticket counter office at Paralakhemundi. The ticket selling brokers are not only selling ticket illegally but they are found sitting on the seat of the ticket selling clerk.
Gajapati district is known as tribal dominated district and shares boundaries with Andhra Pradesh from where hundreds of people depend on train service.
These people from the tribal district and neighboring State Andhra Pradesh come and wait at the ticket booking centre for long hours but don’t get a ticket even, even in the emergency case. It has been found that there is only one hope to get the ticket and that is through the brokers.
A conscious denizen recorded the video where it was found a broker occupying the chair of the clerk and the clerk standing.
Gouranga Pady, a native of Paralakhemundi, said that immediate inquiry and stringent action against the clerk. He made an alliance with the brokers and is earning illegal money through the brokers, he alleged.
