Building in dilapidated condition
Kudanagari post office of Madhusasan Panchayat in Garadpur block, which was set up in the British era, is in a deplorable condition.
As per information written in the wall of the post office, it was established in 1902. But unfortunately the dilapidated condition of the post office never caught the attention of the authorities.
It had been damaged badly during the Super Cyclone in 1999. The locals after collecting funds from their own pockets managed to construct a house for the functioning of the post office in their locality.
Even, later Kudanagari was upgraded to a sub post office and the offices at Bhagabanpur, Sana Adhanga and Korua functioned under it.
But it remained dilapidated due to the callous and negligent attitude of the authorities. The wall of the century old Kudanagari post office needs urgent repair whereas rain water seep from its asbestos roof .The house of the post office is on the verge of collapse. A broken table and two wooden benches are the only furniture of the office.
In the rainy season, the post office work gets shifted to a person’s house at Naganpur, said Madhusasan Sarpanch Arun Kumar Nayak. The post master of the office lamented that the higher authorities were not paying any attention to the renovation of its building and infrastructure.
