EX-TALASARA MLA MAJHI SUSPENDED FROM BJD
Bhubaneswar: The BJD on Sunday suspended Prafulla Majhi, former MLA from Talsara in Sundargarh district, for anti-party activities. The suspension order came into effect immediately, said a release. Majhi was a senior general secretary of the BJD. Majhi was elected from Talsara three times as a Congress candidate. He had first won a by-poll from Talsara in 2006 and later won from the same seat in the 2009 and 2014 Assembly elections. Majhi had quit the Congress in 2021 and joined the BJD along with his supporters.
1 DEAD AS PICKUP VAN OVERTURNS IN GAJAPATI
Paralakhemundi: A labourer was killed and two others were injured when a cement-laden pickup van overturned in Mohana block of Gajapati district on Sunday. The driver of the vehicle lost control of the wheels near Marichima village, following which the van fell off the road. The vehicle owner, who was driving the vehicle, and five others were injured. One Surei Sahu, who was critically injured, was rushed to the MKCG Hospital in Brahmapur, but he died on the way.
YOUTH DROWNS IN DAM IN GAJAPATI
Paralakehmundi: A youth drowned in the Harbhangi Dam in Adaba of Gajapati district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Roha Baliarsingh (17) of Kiribal village. Getting information about the incident, Fire Service personnel reached the spot and recovered the body. Police said the deceased was taking bath in the dam when he slipped into deep waters and drowned. Police sent the body for postmortem and registered a UD case.
