BJP seeks action on question paper leak
Brahmapur: The Brahmapur BJP unit staged a dharna at the Gopabandhu Square here on Wednesday and held a demonstration before the Plus II Council branch office demanding resignation of Higher Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra over the issue of leak of question papers of the ongoing Plus II examinations.
The rally organised by the BJP Yuva Morcha was presided over by its State vice-president Jhullu Sahu. Among others, former Assembly Deputy Speaker Rama Chandra Panda, BJP district president Bijay Swain, BJP town president Rama Patra, Yuva Morcha district president lokesh and BJP youth leaders Saroj Sabat, N Rajendra Kumar, advocate and Magata Patra participated in the dharna.
Rapist gets 7 years in jail
Baleswar: District Sessions Judge V Jayashree on Wednesday sentenced a rape accused to a seven-year jail term. Convict Hrushikesh Sethi (55) of village Santapada under the Soro police station had allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl of the same village when her parents had gone out of their house for jobs in April last year. The victim’s father Sibaprasad Biswal had lodged an FIR with the police following the incident.
