Bridge delay: BJP to launch satyagraha in Balanga

Published on:

The BJP Balanga Mandal demanded construction a high level bridge on the Dhanua river at Toriahanbandha village to provide better road connectivity to the riverside villagers of Nimapara block.

In 2010, the foundation stone of the bridge was laid by local MlA Sameer Ranjan Dash. The target was to complete the bridge in two years. But after seven years, the bridge could not be completed due to apathetic attitude of Rural Development Department. It is said the land acquisition has not started for the approach road yet.

The villagers of Sainsa, Durgapur, Bhagabatipur, Mandiakuda, Dakhinaradas, Khirikhia and Torihanbandha under Sainsa Gram Panchayat and Alanda, Manijanga, Kumarpada, Jagiri and Kusikana villages under Alanda Garm Panchayat will get road communication facility after the bridge construction is finished.

Balanga Mandal BJP president Prasanna Kumar Dash said the party would start a Satyagraha near Torihanbandha village in protest of the long delays in construction of the bridge and give a memorandum to the RD Department on October 18.
