Vehicular communications between Brahmapur and Nayagarh district was severely hit after a bridge over Ambakhala nullah in Buguda of Ganjam district caved in late on Tuesday night. However, no causalities have been reported in the mishap. The bridge, collapsed about 15 feet deep,
Although the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, locals informed that the structure was constructed 50 years ago and was in a ramshackle condition.
Following the incident, a large number of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road. “This is the only convenient route which connects both the districts,” informed a local.
“No alternative arrangements have been made for resuming traffic on the route and we are facing a lot of problems. Till now no officials have reached the spot for inspection,” rued a stranded truck driver.
