An eight-month-old baby in Nabarangpur district died due to superstitious treatment here. The boy had been branded with hot cashew by his father to get rid of his ailments.
The boy of an uneducated couple Rama Gond and Chainu Gond from Mahubhata village under Raighar block died during treatment at the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital on Monday afternoon.
District Headquarters Hospital paediatric doctor Dharani Ranjan Satpathy told that the boy died for multiple ailments like asthma, pneumonia, septicaemia with malnutrition and anemia. In the meanwhile the district administration has also formed a three-member team to inquire into the incident.
