Police on Thursday solved the murder of a youth, Amit Dhala, at the Brajarajnagar bus-stand on July 24 by arresting four persons in connection with the incident.
The arrestees were identified as Sandip Singh alias Bulu, Okil Ray alias Yadav, Ramesh Paikray alias Gurmeet and Md Shahbaz.
Police seized four country-made guns, 20 bullets and bikes from their possession.
During the investigations, police had ascertained that the killing was fallout of a rivalry between two gangs led by deceased Amit and Santosh Biswal alias Jitu.
Police said an associate of Jitu was assaulted by an aide of Amit at Sameswari Mines , fifteen days ago. When Jitu came to know about the incident he hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Amit.
On June 24, while Amit was playing cards with his friend at the Brajarajnagar private bus stand , Gurmeet and Bulu came on a motorcycle and fired five rounds at Amit. He was initially rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to the VIMSAR in Burla but he succumbed to the injuries. This led to apprehensions of a full scale gang war between the two sides but with the arrests that has been averted , police said.
Police are carrying out further investigations to nab the others involved in the crime.
