Brahmpur police foil attempt for dacoity

The police foiled an attempt for a big dacoity here on Friday morning. While a band of six to seven miscreants were preparing a blueprint on late Thursday for looting on the side of NH-5 near a bridge, the Gosaninuagaon police station IIC along with his team, being directed by Brahmapur SP Anirudh Singh, raided the spot and nabbed four of the anti-socials.

The four arrested persons identified as Bulu alias Manoranjan Parida, Narasingh Sethi, Sibaram Sahu and Jagannath Dalai. The remaining three managed to escape, said SDPO Thakur Prasad Patra at a Press meet. The accused were forwarded to court. The police recovered a 9-M Pistol, a magazine and four rounds of live bullets from the accused. Investigation was on to nab the other antisocials, Patra said.

There are a number of cases pending against Bulu and Narasingh for their involvement in murder and burglary. They were jailed several times earlier. The antecedents of the other two arrested accused are being verified. The police recovered a black Scorpio vehicle used by the antisocials and the RTO was asked to trace the owner of the vehicle, which would provide vital clues.
