The Manav Adhikar Suraksha Manch (MASM) demanded installation of a statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the Khallikote College square. A delegation of MASM led by its coordinator Abani Kumar Gaya met BMC Commissioner Anjana Panda in her chamber here on Monday afternoon and submitted a memorandum demanding to expedite establishment of a full-fledged Netaji statue. Among others, Maguni Nahak, Bansidhar Bhuyan, Rabindra Nayak, Shambasiva Rao, Bijaya Chandra Bisoyi and PK Das were present.
Gaya also demanded that the BMC should subscribe all the English and Odia dailies for public libraries and reading halls currently functioning in the city besides establishing a state- of- the- art public library-cum- community information center at Gandhinagar. He further said that several Government and BMC plots and vacant lands in the city including in Gandhinagar are under encroachment and demanded that the land be identified and brought back for use of public institutions.
