More than two hundred denizens of EWS Colony in Gajapati Nagar, one of the important localities under the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) are deprived of piped water for the last five days, particularly when the mercury has reached an all-time high in this ongoing summer.
Though the denizens of the colony have repeatedly complained at the nearest PHD water supply office located at Engineering School Road about non-supply of water, their demand still remains unheeded.
Meanwhile, the PHD authorities reportedly transferred the concerned Junior Engineer (JE) Ramesh Sahu to Hinjili and another JE of a nearby office has been given the additional responsibility of monitoring water supply to the EWS Colony, adding salt to injury, feel the denizens.
The JE is not available at most of the times in office and there is no one to address public grievances, said a local resident, Rashmita Pradhan. The JE is also not receiving the telephone calls of the public, she alleged. “We are living in this colony without a drop of water since last five days,” she said.
It may be recalled that hundreds of local residents registered their protests before the local PHD office and made a huge outcry demanding supply of water to the colony last week which too remains un-responded.
