Brahma is falsehood, claims Freethought Party

Published on:
The Freethought Party of India said that Brahma is a falsehood and hence, the high drama over punishment to those servitors who are alleged to have touched or seen Brahma should end and the innocent servitors be let off.
The party also called for amendment in the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1955 and abolition of institutions like the Gajapati Maharaja of Puri and Shankaracharya of Govardhan Peeth and their segregation from the affairs of the temple and its rituals.
Organising a seminar here entitled “Brahma Ghataparipartan Controversy and Separation of Politics and Education from Religion,” the party spokespersons objected to the status of Rashtra Devata accorded to Shree Jagannath. “Since India is a secular republic, lord Jagannath of Puri can never become the Rashtra Debata of Odisha which is an integral part of India,” the party said.
The party also protested Rath Yatra in the campus of the Utkal University and demanded that Nabakalebar should be stopped and instead the image of the deities should be built as per modern science.
Among others, party general secretary B Ramachandra CST Voltaire, vice-president Harish Chandra Kar and columnist Tusharkanta were present.
