Following pleas of the students to postpone semester examinations in the wake of the devastating cyclonic storm Phailin and the subsequent flash floods that have ravaged the State recently, the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) authorities postponed the examinations which had been scheduled for next week.
“For the convenience of students, particularly belonging to cyclone and flood affected districts like Baleswar, Bhadrak, Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur, we deferred the examinations to 10 days,“ said Technical Education Minister Pratap Kesari Deb.
According to an official notification, the III, V and VII semester examinations of B Tech, B Pharma, MCA, MBA and B Arch courses for the year 2013-14 which were scheduled to start from October 24 and 25 were put off. The examinations will now start on November 4 and 5, the notification said.
The notification further stated that for the convenience of the students, a detailed revised schedule for all the courses with fresh dates would be displayed in the BPUT’s official website soon.
On October 14, the students had handed over a memorandum to BPUT Vice-Chancellor JK Satpathy and concerned Minister urging them to reschedule the semester examinations.
