The sudden postponement of the second semester examination of first year llB course to May 10 by the Berhampur University on Saturday has surprised the students.
The examination was scheduled for April 21 (Monday). lack of preparatory works, improper pre-examination planning and improper management are said to be the reasons for shifting of the examination date, sources said.
The revised schedule has already been communicated to all the law Colleges affiliated to the university.
Reliable sources, however, attribute non-receipt of the required question papers by the university to such postponement of the examination.
Such sudden postponement of the examination just before 48 hours of the scheduled date would have an adverse impact on the psychology of students, said a student.
There are nearly 500 students to appear at the examination under the university in three examination centres, lingaraj law College, Ganjam law College and Jeypore law College.
As per the earlier programme, most of the examinees reportedly issued their admit cards.
Since the examinees are not informed individually, they may come to their respective centres on Monday only to be aware of the postponement of the examination.
However, except for the first examination earlier scheduled to held on Monday, the examinations for all other papers will be held as scheduled.
Some sources said the election duty for the university staff and inter-sectional transfer of huge non-teaching employees at one go are the reasons that forced the university authorities to shift the examination.
According to a former Professor of the university, for any shifting of an examination date without valid reasons the university should be held accountable.
