The fight between Brahmapur Fish Traders’ Association and the district administration over shifting of fish market from Kamapalli to Mardaraj Vending Zone soothed on Wednesday as some traders started selling fish at the vending zone on the assurance of the administration.

Notably, Ganjam district Collector Premchand Choudhury had on Tuesday assured traders in front of MlA Ramesh Chandra Chyaupatanik and Higher Education Minister Dr Pradeep Panigrahi that the administration would provide them a suitable place with facilities like water, electricity and roofing system within a year. But they have to free Kamapalli fish market within two days.

Accordingly, the fish traders started selling fist at the Mardaraj Vending Zone which was earlier allocated to them by the administration. The vending zone doesn’t have adequate space to accommodate all 176 fish traders of Kamapalli market. Besides, it lacks water, electricity and other facilities.

They have demanded that the administration should provide them a suitable place at the earliest.

However, the administration deployed heave police forces at the Kamapalli market to avoid any possible untoward incident.
