The main gate centuries-old Maa Sano Thakurani heritage temple, the famous Shakti Peetha of south Odisha, will be renovated soon.

Thousands of the devotees from different parts of the State and neighboring Andhra Pradesh come to the 200-year-old temple, located in front of the Sub-Registrar's Office here, with a preordained desire (known as Manasika) and spend several nights in the temple premises lying down before the deity and keeping fast to fulfill their desire.

Keeping both security and public perceptions in mind, temple chief priest A Srinivas Rao had drawn the attention of the district Collector and the Culture Department to the dilapidated state of the main gate of the temple and sought financial assistance for its renovation.

On the recommendation of the district Collectors, the concerned Ministry has sanctioned `50,000,  which soon will be handed over to the District Rural Development Organization (DRDO) to execute the renovation work.
