Children from 30 slums in here practised journalism to make their voice heard. The 7th edition of a wall magazine made by them was inaugurated highlighting issues of their living with the help of YSD.
The child club members stuck their tiny writing pieces in public walls in 15 selected slums. Community leaders, elected representatives and children inaugurated these pieces in their respective slums with a gathering of slum communities.
The slums where the magazines were stuck included Khodasingi Old Bauri street, Khodasingi New Bauri street, Raghupati Nagar canal street, Old Berhampur Bauri street, Gramdevati Bauri street and Jaganaath Nagar street, Balaji Pentho street, Hanuman Nagar Canal huda, Jagabandhu huda street, Ambapua Bauri street, lanjipali Telgu street, Goudabandh street and Ankuli Gudia bandha street, Ainabandha street. Other 15 slums will be covered in coming days, said YSD programme manager Ratneswar Sahu.
Child club members Bala Das, Smruti Kumari Sahoo, Rinki Patra, Pinky Das, Basant Das, Radha Dash and Jharana Das took lead and from Youth for Social Development (YSD) Shashikant Das, Chandan Sahu, Abhiram Kanhar, Sujata Bisoyi and Suchitra Rout facilitated.
