The Brahmapur police on Thursday night nabbed all 12 associates of dreaded criminal Sunil Behera, who had been caught following an encounter on Wednesday. The associates had managed to flee from the spot.
Sunil and all his associates used to collect extortion from businessmen and had ransacked house of a witness in the Chicken Rabi murder case, said ASP Tirnath Patel.
He said police teams from various police station of the city conducted raids at various places and managed to nab them. The police have also seized five motorbikes, five mobiles, a pistol and a sword from their possession.
The arrested are Sunil Bisoyi (22) of lanjipalli, Sibaran Jena (25) of Hanuman Nagar, Muna Maharana (24), Sanjay Mohapatra (18) and Anil Mahakund (21) of Sriram Nagar, Aditya Sahu (22) of Kalu Patra street, lokanath Moharana (24) of Balaji Penth, Sunil Behera alias Kalia (25) of Aska Raod, Tutu Behera (25) of Padia Street, Deepak Behera (23) of Balaji Pentha, Muna Behera (19) and Y Purnachandra (20) of lanjipalli and Murali Krisharao (21) of Mathura Nagar.
