BJP youth leader and former Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Shiva Shankar Das has filed a petition in the District Court against incumbent Mayor K Madhavi alleging that she has misutiliesed her power to grab land in the city.
Das alleged that Madhavi, the first woman Mayor of the BMC, has misused his official power to grab 324 decimal of land in the posh localities of the silk city. lawyer Hemant Panda filed the petition on behalf of Das on Tuesday. Das said Madhavi’s father KBJVPK Babji had in August 1989 filed a case against the Brahmapur Municipality claiming ownership of the corresponding land reflected in Khata No 370 under 204 Alakapuri Mouza.
later, after death of Babji, his elder daughter K Madhavi obtained a legal heir certificate and continued to fight the above case jointly with other family members to acquire the above land, Patta (mutation) of which still remains in BMC name. At that time, Madhavi had mentioned her name as K Sai lakshmi and her husband’s name as K lakshman Rao, Das alleged in the petition.
“Ironically, Madhavi, during the last BMC election, did not mention her earlier name in the application form to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) to fight the election. She mentioned her name as K Madhavi and her husband’s name as CH Venkateraman (these names were in the Voters’ list) and obtained the NOC,” Das said, adding that the two names are not their original names.
Das said as Madhavi fought the last election and won the election changing names deliberately she has no morale to remain in power. Meanwhile in her reaction, the Mayor said she does not know who has filed the petition against her. She said her name is recorded as K Madhavi in school and college certificates but her family members used to call her as “Sai lakshmi”. She has nothing to do with this case, the Mayor said.
