A delegation of concerned citizens from Chatrapur led by BJP leader Rama Chandra Panda, Babuli Panda and Manoranjan Mahapatra met the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) at Khurda and discussed on the recent rescheduling of timing of first DMU at Ganjam and Chatrapur railway stations.
Notably, the Palasa-Bhubaneswar train (the 1st DMU) was reaching Chatrapur Station at 6 am morning as per the previous schedule which was the most convenient time for the passengers and the pilgrims to go to Puri. But as per the rescheduled timing, the same train is reaching at Chatrapur-Ganjam railway stations between 4.15 and 4.30 causing inconvenience to the passengers.
Panda objected to the detaining the 1st DMU at Balugaon Railway Station for two hours, describing it as sheer wastage of time. He demanded to restore the previous time schedule for the 1st DMU which was more convenient.
Further, Panda also demanded to extend the Rajarani-Bhubaneswar Express up to Brahmapur, as there is no direct train between these two commercial cities.
Other demands conveyed to DRM included halting of East Coast Express at Ganjam, extension of Palasa-Bhubaneswar up to Puri, rescheduling of the timing of Gunupur-Puri train, extension of destinations of the above trains and change in time schedule keeping public convenience in mind.
The DRM reportedly assured the delegation to consider the matter.
