The 83rd Utkal Divas was celebrated amid serenity and gaiety by different organisations across the city on Sunday.
The Ganjam district administration took out a splendorous chariot to mark the occasion. BMC Commissioner Chakraborty Singh Rathore, Deputy Mayor Jyotsna Nayak and BDA Chairman Subash Moharana garlanded statues of legendaries like Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, Maharaj Krushna Chandra Gajapati, Utklamani Gopabandhu Das, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi.
Similarly, the Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch held a meeting under the chairmanship of president Abani Kumar Gaya as part of Utkal Divas celebration.
Members of Biju Patnaik Senior Citizen’s Forum and the Utkal Sammilani too garlanded the statutes. The Information and Public Relation Department along with the Mahan Sangh organised a seminar titled “Odia Swabhimanare Kalam Ra Bhumika” on the occasion.
Besides, members of the Ganjam Zill Bikash Manch and the Brahmapur Mahanagar Soundhik Samaj celebrated the day by holding meetings at separate places.
