The Gosaninuagaon police conducted a raid on the residence of Gutkha businessman P Gopal Krishna at Prem Nagar here on Thursday.
Earlier, the police had raided Gopal Krishna’s godowns at Aandhapasara Road, Haladiapadara and Uttareswar on January 26 and seized Gutkha packets, raw materials and 39 machines worth crores of rupees. However, as his residence was locked up, the police had not searched it.
Getting information that Gopal Krishna was in his house, the police and a Magistrate team led by Gosaninuagaon police station IIC Siba Shankar Mohapatro and Additional Tehsildar Sashanka Patro rushed to place and searched his house. Though no document was found during the search, but a Gutkha machine catalogue was found in the house.
Meanwhile, the High Court has ordered not to arrest Gopal Krishna but has directed the businessman to cooperate in investigation and summoning activities by the police.
