Members of the Sanskarabadi, a social organisation, staged a dharna at the Brahmapur railway station here on Friday demanding a direct train from Brahmapur to Puri.
“Even as we have been demanding a direct train from Brahmapur to Puri for long, it remains still unheard,” said Sanskarabadi president Trinath Moharana.
The denizens of Brahmapur are facing a lot of problem as they take two trains to go to Puri via Khordha Road. Once the train runs to Puri, thousands of devotees from Ganjam can go to Pui and return on the same day also, explained Moharana.
“We would continue our stir till the introduction of the train,” he added.
They submitted a memorandum to the Khordha Road DRM through Station Manager Durga Prasad Brahma.
Among others, Subasha Moharana, Sabita Sahukar, Pragyan Paramita Padhy, Dinabandhu Moharana and Rajani Kanta Mandal were present.
