The Brahmapur Town police on Saturday brought Astha Group’s Odisha chief Subhransu lenka on remand for two days for interrogation on the charge of multi-crore chit fund scheme scam.
At about 12 noon when lenka was brought from the Brahmapur Circle Jail in a police vehicle to the Town police station, there was an unprecedented rush of spectators in the premises of the police station to have a look of the face of the accused.
Mention may be made that lenka has reportedly earned crores of rupees from hundreds of innocent depositors of Brahmapur town and also from people in other parts of the State luring them to pay more dividend.
One of the depositors of Brahmapur, Mitrabhanu Panigrahi, a resident of Gandhinagar, had lodged a complaint in the local town police station bearing case No. 78/2013, based on which the Town police brought lenka on remand for detailed interrogation, said IIC of Town police station Anil Kumar Mishra.
