Hundreds of students of the St Joseph’s Convent School and their parents are sitting on a dharna in front of the school on Church Road near the Old Bus stand here since Wednesday protesting the alleged dictatorial and vindictive attitude of the School Managing Committee (SMC) for terminating the serviced of a sincere teacher. Notably, the SMC at the behest of school Principal Sister Juliate dismissed teacher Mahidhar Vidya from service two days back without assigning any reason and prior notice to the incumbent.
The agitating students alleged that the teacher Vidya has been removed arbitrarily out of sheer jealousy and to settle personal scores as he was very popular among students and peers for his excellent teaching techniques and clarity in thought and sincerity. He was teaching Mathematics to students of Class-VIII, IX and X. Holding placards and chanting slogans against the SMC and the Principal, the students demanded reinstatement of Vidya forthwith to restore normalcy in the academic schedule.
