BPOs to come up in Bhubaneswar, Puri

When Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik demanded a C-DAC Regional Centre at Bhubaneswar, Union Minister Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad's reply was that the State really needs more Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centres.

Prasad said BPOs are coming up far-flung places and small towns like Jaleswar in Baleswar district which would provide more job opportunities.

The Union Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeITY) has announced an India BPO Promotion Scheme with 48,300 seats. With the BPOs sprouting in smaller towns, entrepreneurs are taking a lot of interest for setting up BPOs.

Thanks to the MeITY’s move, the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) Odisha is signing Master Service Agreements (MSAs) with leading promoters of BPOs.

Suyog Computech, a global player in the IT sector has signed an MSA with the STPI Odisha for setting up of two BPOs at Bhubaneswar and Puri.

Suyog Computech chief Manoranjan Mohapatra signed the MSA with STPI Odisha Director Manas Panda. The BPO at Puri would have 54 seats and the BPO at Bhubaneswar 51 seats.

Setting up of such BPOs would create new job opportunities for young people; and the MeITY is supporting these efforts, said Mohapatra after signing the MSA.

Suyog Computech, which has a large presence in Odisha, has expanded its network to the UK and the USA. Apart from the Suyog Computch, the CASA Infratech also signed an MSA with STPI Bhubaneswar for setting up a BPO with 100 seats. More entrepreneurs are coming up for setting up BPOs, said STPI sources.
