Ahead of the panchayat elections, the Maoists have warned the tribals of Malkangiri district to abstain from the polls.
Some Maoist posters have been spotted at Kudumulugumma in the district in which the Malkangiri District Divisional Committee of the outlawed CPI(Ml) has asked the tribals not to take part in the upcoming polls.
The Maoists have threatened that those who would contest in the elections would face death punishment at Praja courts.
The extremists have further warned that thumbs of those casting their votes would be chopped off.
The ultras have also threatened contractors to stop welfare projects at the block and panchayat levels.
