In a shocking incident, a Class-X student, Rashmi Ranjan Bej, committed suicide on Tuesday allegedly after he apprehended that his family would refuse to purchase a cricket bat for him.
The deceased was a student of the Munilal High School (MlHS) at Baisinga in the district. Sources said the boy pestered his parents to buy him a cricket bat. Though his father assured him to buy a bat, he resorted to the extreme step by consuming pesticide apprehending that his request would be turned down by his family.
later, Rashmi was rushed to hospital after he complained of chest pain, but doctors declared him brought dead. The incident has sent shockwaves among the residents of the area.
